This session explores how tape diagrams develop in grades 2 and 3 to support problem solving and operational understanding. Participants will engage in grade-level examples and discuss strategies that build strong mathematical reasoning foundations. Participants will explore addition and subtraction problem types and how intentional instruction supports student reasoning and flexibility. The session emphasizes conceptual understanding, representation, and problem-solving beyond keyword strategies. This session is geared towards K-2 teachers, but all teachers are welcome.
